MY STORY
Training has been a passion of mine for over 40 years. From a personal or family dog, hunting dog or to a competitive field trial dog, the challenges and rewards helping an owner and their dog build a life time relationship is why I train dogs. I apply how a dog learns and how we can use this to excel our dogs training. This is a important piece of training. Training is a partnership between owner(s) and the dog. This needs to occur for success. This is the reason for Happy Tails K9 Services. We discuss what you would like your dog to accomplish. Design a program to fit your dog, its personality, owner(s) goals and create a partnership between both. During the process, you have a coach and support along the training process. I look forward to create a life time partnership with you and your dog.

THINKING ABOUT A NEW PUPPY
Is it time to buy a new puppy. Here are a few thoughts to consider.
When choosing a breed, consider what you will use the dog for, where you live (In town, country). Is there a place close for exercising the dog.
When you have chosen a breed and are looking for a puppy, see both parents if you can, ask a lot of questions, is this the first litter, the reason for the breeding, what were they breeding for, temperament, trainability and conformation.
Make sure this the right time to have a new puppy. It takes a time commitment.
I recommend using a crate. Done correctly, this will be an area, your puppy will spend time there, with the door open. Choose a crate size not too large. The right size helps the puppy feel secure when they are in the crate.
Choose a vet you will use. They can assist with what dog food you will use.
Lastly, Have a training plan ready. Starting early at 7 weeks is a great time to start. There are may books to reference, or contact a trainer like Happy Tails for assistance setting up your plan. Either way, training should be fun for both the owner and puppy.
